Village Hall

Sutton St. Nicholas has a brand new Village Hall. The building was completed in the Summer 2008. The Village Hall and community facilities adjoin the School and share the large Main Hall.
The Village Hall facilities comprise one large room which can be divided into two medium-sized rooms with an interactive whiteboard, a large kitchen, plus a small meeting room. The large Main Hall has projection facilities.

It is now six months since we had the first function in our new Village Hall - the strawberry teas and barbeque as part of the Open Gardens weekend. Since then the hall has been used for an increasing variety of activities:
- Parish Council and Parochial Church Council meetings
- childrens' parties
- Hereford Wheelers Cycling Club for winter static training
- keep fit
- dancing
- art classes
And, of course, the extremely successful 'Three Men in a Bowtie' review, in aid of church funds, which generated a capacity sit-down audience of 100. They enjoyed an evening of good fun and good food. The kitchen came into good use that evening.
The Village Hall Charity Fund has raised some £8500 over the past two and a half years and has purchased much equipment for the hall:
- complete crockery, cutlery and glassware to cater for 100 people
- a fridge
- a range cooker
- blinds in the two meeting rooms
- folding tables
- additional chairs for use in any room, including the joint-use main hall.
New activities or 2009:
- Sutton St. Nicholas Gardeners' Club - first meeting was 14th January
- Sutton St. Nicholas History Club - still being planned.

It is the purpose of the Village Hall to be of maximum use to the village, to encourage social and educational activities. To this end the hall charges have been kept extremely reasonable considering the quality of the accommodation:
- Depending on the room used hourly charges to Sutton St. Nicholas residents and organisations range from £5 to £15 per hour (including tea&coffee facilities) with full use of the kitchen available for an extra £5 per hour.
- For a village children's party in Room 2 (25 children) the all-in charge is £25 for 4 hours.
- For a village organisation, not engaged in fundraising, there is no charge for Rooms 1 & 2.
Remember it's your Village Hall - please use it !
